The Diploma of Business is suitable for those new to leadership, management or supervision roles who are looking to develop a strong grounding in business operations and management principles. Through the Diploma of Business, you will develop your skills in planning, organising, implementing and monitoring your own workload and the workload of others. You will develop communication skills to support individuals and teams to meet organisational and/or enterprise requirements.
This qualification reflects the role of individuals in a variety of Business Services job roles. These individuals may have frontline management accountabilities. Individuals in these roles carry out moderately complex tasks in a specialist field of expertise that requires business operations skills. They may possess substantial experience in a range of settings, but seek to further develop their skills across a wide range of business functions.

RPL (Recognition of Prior Learning)
Students are required to have access to a workplace and/or team environment, ideally to apply business and operational principles; this may include a previous workplace. You need access to a computer and an internet connection. The program is best suited to those with some workplace experience to apply their learning to.
Regardless of the chosen study method, all of our students at Scope Training are assigned to a staff member for ongoing support via phone, email or virtual meetings as required through to completion of their qualification. We encourage students to maintain regular contact with their training consultant to get the most out of their studies.
Upon successful completion of 12 chosen units, participants will be awarded the Diploma of Business BSB50120. The Diploma of Business is highly regarded as the industry standard in the recognition of executive officers, program consultants and program developers. Participants will undertake learnings to sharpen their skills (as per key skills section) as well as the opportunity to apply business skills and concepts to work-based situations. This will provide participants with the skills they need to work effectively within the business environment as well as the confidence to apply them in a practical setting.
The Diploma of Business opens pathways by validating to employers that graduates have practically demonstrated the skills and knowledge to work effectively within a business environment. This qualification is relevant for employment in practically any industry. Furthermore a qualification
from Scope Training advocates that the learner has demonstrated the ability to apply these skills in a work context, reassuring employers of job readiness.

To attain the Diploma of Business through RPL is a 3-step process:
- Step 1 – Suitability assessment: Scope reviews your resume/experience summary to determine if RPL is appropriate.
- Step 2 – Evidence gathering: You work with Scope to show your experience and knowledge meet the requirements of the Diploma. Evidence types include Meeting Agenda, Meeting Minutes, Stakeholder Communications/Plan (prior to and after meeting),Meeting Attendance Sheets, Copies of Presentation/Handouts and other documentation, and Operational plans.
- Step 3 – Award of qualification upon successful assessment.
Note: If you have never worked in a position leading a team or supported a manager, RPL would not be an appropriate pathway. In that case, online enrolment is the recommended route.

How long do I have to complete?
All enrolments last for 12 months. We find the majority of our students can complete in a shorter timeframe, and often see students complete within 4-8 months of enrolment. You can work through as fast as you want, as all our courses are fully self-paced.

When can I enrol?

What’s a USI and why do I need it to enrol?
USI stands for Unique Student Identifier, and must be provided when undertaking any nationally recognised training. You will need to include your USI on your enrolment form when enrolling at Scope Training.
If you’ve done any training since 2015 you may already have one; if not, you can apply for one before enrolling.
Your USI also gives you access to your USI VET Transcript – this is a government authenticated record of any VET training you’ve completed since 2015.
