Project Management in the Solomon Islands

Through November and December 2014 Nic Thomas from Scope Training delivered a series of nationally recognised project management training to several government departments within the Solomon Islands.

This training was hosted by the Solomon Islands Electrical Authority (SIEA) and delivered  at their premises in Honiara.

The program consisted of 2 Certificate IV in Project Management workshops contextualised to focus on upcoming public works such as the Kukum Highway upgrade which will see the interaction of several key government departments such as Solomon Islands Electrical Authority (SIEA), Solomon Water, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Development as well as local representatives from Jacobs international.  It was great to see all these key stakeholders took part in the training.

A subsequent “Project Management Fundamentals” workshop was also delivered to Senior Managers and staff who are not directly involved in the implementation of projects, but affected by them.  It was great to see representation from the Senior SIEA staff with the inclusion of the Chief Financial Officer.

Nic Thomas keeps in contact with many of the students in furthering their skills and knowledge of Project Management.
