Note *The Foundation qualification is also a prerequisite for the Practitioner qualification.


Scope Training’s PRINCE2® Foundation workshop course is an entry-level certification for project practitioners.  The PRINCE2® Foundation demonstrates a strong understanding of the fundamental knowledge, terminology and processes of effective project management.

The aim of this course is to provide candidates with sufficient knowledge and understanding of the PRINCE2® method to be able to work effectively with, or as a member of, a project management team working within an environment supporting PRINCE2®.


The PRINCE2® Foundation Certification Course is suitable for the following roles:

Participants should:

  • Be Project Managers or Team Leaders or have had involvement in a project based environment
  • Have as a minimum at least 12 months’ or more project experience


Prince2 Foundation Workshop Summary

  • Overview of PRINCE2
  • 7 Principles (continued business justification, learn from experience, defined roles and responsibilities, manage by stages, manage by exception, focus on products, tailor to suit the project environment)
  • 7 Processes (starting up a project, directing a project, initiating a project, controlling a stage, managing product delivery, managing a stage boundary, closing a project)
  • 7 Themes (business case, organization, quality, plans, risk, change, progress)


Examination Format

  • Multiple choice examination questions
  • 75 questions per paper
  • Five trial questions (not counted in scores)
  • Pass: 35 marks required (out of 70 available) – 50%
  • Closed book.


By completing the Foundation Workshop (3 days), the participant will have sufficient knowledge to sit the PRINCE2® Foundation Examination.
