The Advanced Diploma of Program Management reflects the role of individuals who apply specialised knowledge and skills, together with experience in program management across a range of enterprise and industry contexts.
A program is defined as a set of interrelated projects, each of which has a project manager. 'Multiple projects', or 'a program of projects', refers to a number of related projects managed by the same person as a program to achieve organisational objective/s. It applies to individuals who are program managers, managing or directing a suite of projects (a program) to achieve organisational objectives.
Entry to this qualification is limited to those who have completed one of the following qualifications: BSB50820 Diploma of Project Management or BSB51415 Diploma of Project Management (or a superseded equivalent version); or have completed two years equivalent full-time relevant workplace experience at a significant level within a project or program environment within an enterprise.
It is expected that the participant will be working in a senior role within the organisation, and be in charge of multiple projects simultaneously.
School leavers will not be enrolled into this qualification.
There are two main pathways into this qualification
Ideally participants should hold a Diploma of Project Management. However there are a number of other accepted qualifications from industry areas such as a Project Management Degree, Business Degree, and Masters in Project Management or Business Administration. It is possible to gain acceptance into the Advanced Diploma without the previous attainment of a recognised qualification. As the programs are designed based upon the work environment, experience within that environment is an acceptable point of entry. In regards to the Advanced Diploma of Program Management this may include but not limited to experience within a senior project role such as Project Sponsor, Project Director, Program Manager, or Program Management Office (PMO) Manager. The amount of effort and time required for this qualification is based upon your existing skills and experience (find out more on how competency based learning works). It is suggested that the course take approximately 540 hours of learning. However we find that due to our learner profile and the methods by which our programs are structured this is rarely the case. As a guide:
30 minutes (through RPL) to 50 hours
We provide students with the ability to complete the Advanced Diploma of Program Management over a one year period; however we find that the average time is between 3 to 6 months. During that time there is a large variance in the amount of time each student spends working on the qualification. Upon successful completion of 12 units, participants will be awarded the Advanced Diploma of Program Management. The Advanced Diploma of Program Management is highly regarded as the industry standard in the recognition of Program Managers, Project Directors and Senior Program and Portfolio executives.
Participants will undertake learning to sharpen their skills (as per key skills section) as well as the opportunity to apply a strategic skill set to work-based situations. This will provide participants with the skills they need to effectively direct projects across a wide range of industries.
Broadly the Advanced Diploma of Program Management communicates to employers that you have demonstrated the following broad skills: Communication, Teamwork, Problem-solving, Initiative and enterprise, Planning and organising, Self-management, Learning and Technology skills. The Advanced Diploma of Program Management requires the completion of 12 units (4 core and 8 electives).
The Advanced Diploma of Program Management opens pathways by validating to employers that graduates have practically demonstrated the skills and knowledge to effectively direct projects. Furthermore a qualification from Scope Training advocates that the learner has demonstrated the ability to apply these skills in a work context, reassuring employers of job-readiness.
