Workshops

Learning through a workshop based environment is the most conventional style of education. Participants are enrolled with the intent of attending the required training days to receive the relevant information.

At Scope Training we are flexible in the delivery and assessment models and conduct both corporate and public workshops. For corporate clients we allow for flexible schedules, where the organisation is able to dictate the spread and number of training days based upon Scope’s recommendation and considering their staffing and workforce requirements.

There is no requirement as to the number of days of training. This is normally based upon the gap between the pre-existing skills and knowledge of the intended participants and the requirements of the respective qualification.

There are some advantages of online learning to which Scope Training offers above the industry standard including:

With most courses being laid out in modules, you are able to simply complete the assessment for modules for which you have existing skills allowing you to spend longer on those which you are quite new to, alternatively you are able to RPL those for which you already have evidence. You can work with your consultant so we can focus the  earning to your industry and role by providing industry specific feedback.

As a Scope Training student you have the ability to vary your learning experience by supplementing your workshop learning with online learning, one on one coaching or RPL. Scope Training allows students to transition from on learning method to another for no additional fee.

Scope Training only employs industry experts who also have the ability to provide excellent commitment to quality in regards to training and customer service. You can be

guaranteed that your consultant will be not only an expert in their field but also a great trainer, assessor and coach.

Each consultant at Scope works to facilitate not only the transfer of information, but through the use of practical activities, create an enjoyable engaging environment as a catalyst for learning. Scope Training consultants are able to communicate complex theories and processes in a very simplistic fashion.

During your studies you have full access to your lecturer, this is useful for the provision of coaching, tutoring even after your workshops have finished. Most courses have a free six months support which students can access after their training.

Online

Online training has grown in popularity accommodating for our busy lifestyles and study habits.  Whilst the growth has largely been facilitated through the improvements in technology (internet connectivity, laptops, smart phones and tablets) it still doesn't suit everyone’s particular learning style and there are some considerations you should take prior to engaging in online learning the main being your learning style.

Your learning style: everyone is different and whilst some may enjoy the self paced nature and flexibility provided from studying online, others may find motivation to study a struggle and even find that they would have gained more from a workshop environment.

Recognised Prior Learning (RPL)

Recognised Prior Learning (RPL) is a process where a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) assesses your skills and experience to award nationally recognised qualifications.  Recognition of Prior Learning or RPL has somewhat of a tarnished reputation. In some cases suitable candidates believe that it takes less time to complete the workshops and submit the assessments.  There are two variables to consider in answering this question; suitability of the candidate and secondly the process applied by the Registered Training Organisation (RTO).

  1. 1
    ASSESSMENT OF SUITABILITY

Upon contacting Scope Training, you will be assigned a consultant who specialises in your industry. The consultant will conduct an initial assessment; this can be performed through submitting a resume, a brief of your relevant skills and experience or a short phone conversation of meeting. The purpose of this is to determine your suitability for RPL as well as to advise how long the process is expected to take and an indication of whether supplementary training may be required. At this point the choice is yours and there is no charge for this process.

  2. 2
    SUBMISSION OF EVIDENCE

If you decide to go ahead your consultant will provide advice on the types of evidence required. This will vary best upon the type of qualification as well as your particular role and industry. Scope Training is very flexible upon the evidence requirements and as such is not limited to simply documents which you have created or by answering questions. Your consultant will assist you by proposing options such as; emails, documents, reports, feedback from supervisors and/or clients. Considering your role and experience your consultant will guide you in the types of evidence in order to minimise your time investment.

  3. 3
    ASSESSMENT OF EVIDENCE

Once the first bit of evidence is received your consultant will commence the assessment process, this involves satisfying each of the criteria required for the unit through a process called competency mapping. Where most other RTO’s require the participant to complete this process, Scope Training believes that this should be contained within the Training Organisation’s scope of works. Once the submitted evidence has been assessed, your consultant will advise the outcome; this could be that further evidence is required or that you have achieved the qualification.

Why complicate things?  Once you are deemed suitable for RPL we explain the requirements and identify the approach which will best suit your situation.  From there identify a simple process which aims to minimise your time and effort requirements, after all you have the experience, this should not be painful.

We've heard horror stories where professionals have paid to undergo skills recognition only to have the company they have engaged produce them with mountains of paperwork to complete.  At Scope, our approach couldn't be more different; we understand that you are the client and as such we do the hard work for you.  We will guide you as the the requirements and from there your consultant will take care of all the competency mapping saving you from countless hours of paperwork.

We don't leave you in the dark.  You will receive regular status updates and will be able to contact your consultant as you need.  The type of communication is up to you and differs for every client, you are able to complete the entire process online, or have face to face meetings.  It is completely up to you.

Whilst we have to align your evidence against nationally recognised competencies, we allow a great deal of flexibility in regards to the nature of the evidence used.  The types of acceptable evidence will vary based upon the qualification and specific units, however in most cases evidence can include; previous documentation, third party letters, interviews and customer testimonials.
