BSB50420 Diploma of Leadership and Management

The Diploma of Leadership and Management is designed for managers looking to further develop their skills and experience and lead on a large scale. This qualification reflects the role of individuals who apply knowledge, practical skills and experience in leadership and management across a range of enterprise and industry contexts.

Individuals at this level display initiative and judgement in planning, organising, implementing and monitoring their own workload and the workload of others. They use communication skills to support individuals and teams to meet organisational or enterprise requirements. They may plan, design, apply and evaluate solutions to unpredictable problems, and identify, analyse and synthesise information from a variety of sources.

Upon successful completion of the 12 units, participants will be awarded the Diploma of Leadership and Management (BSB50420). The Diploma of Leadership and Management is regarded as the industry standard in the recognition of those who have demonstrated the ability to work effectively within a leadership environment.

BSB41419 Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety

The Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety is designed for supervisors, health and safety representatives, safety officers and those involved in the management of occupational risk. Through this qualification, you will develop your skills in drafting emergency plans, assisting with compliance with WHS laws, assisting with responding to incidents, and implementing and maintaining WHS management systems.

Upon successful completion of 10 units, participants will be awarded the Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (BSB41419). The Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety is highly regarded as the industry standard in the recognition of those who have demonstrated the ability to work effectively within a WHS environment.

Key Units of Competency

BSBWHS411 – Implement and monitor WHS policies, procedures and programs: Implement and monitor an organisation’s WHS policies, procedures and programs in the relevant work area to meet legislative requirements. Applies to those with supervisory responsibilities in a work area who have a broad knowledge of WHS policies.

BSBWHS412 – Assist with workplace compliance with WHS laws: Identify applicable WHS laws, duties, rights and obligations, and the necessary actions to ensure WHS compliance in the workplace.

BSBWHS413 – Contribute to the implementation and maintenance of WHS consultation and participation processes.

BSBWHS414 – Contribute to WHS risk management: Contribute to WHS risk management, including processes for identifying WHS hazards and assessing and controlling the risk relating to those hazards.

BSBWHS415 – Contribute to implementing WHS management systems: Contribute to implementing a plan for a WHS management system that applies to own role.

BSBWHS416 – Contribute to workplace incident response: Assist with actions performed in response to workplace incidents according to WHS legislative and organisational requirements.

BSB51319 Diploma of Work Health and Safety

This Diploma of Work Health and Safety is designed for students currently working within the area of work health and safety who wish to gain more specialised skills and knowledge. You will study the theory, legislative requirements and practical applications of work health and safety principles to enable you to build upon existing knowledge; provide guidance in the compliance of legislation and implementation of effective WHS management systems.

You will learn the key skills required to lead WHS risk management and contribute to the development, implementation, and maintenance of WHS management systems. Through the Diploma, you will develop your skills in communication, risk management and WHS compliance. Additionally, you will develop skills in problem-solving, particularly for situations found in WHS roles.

Upon successful completion of 10 units, participants will be awarded the Diploma of Work Health and Safety (BSB51319). This program has been designed in conjunction with our in-house health subject matter expert, who has first-hand experience working within industry. Participants will learn how to identify, assess and control conditions in the work environment that are harmful to the health and safety of people in all occupations. You will study the functions of policy development, risk management, compensation, rehabilitation, injury management and application of legislation.

Career Outcome: WHS Manager, WHS Practitioner, Senior WHS Officer

Key Units of Competency

BSBWHS515 – Lead the management of WHS risks: Facilitating the identification of hazards and potential hazards, leading the assessment of associated risks, selecting and implementing suitable risk controls, and evaluating the overall effectiveness of the organisational WHS risk management process. Applies to those providing specialised knowledge and guidance to a range of personnel.

BSBWHS515 – Lead initial response to and investigate WHS incidents: Lead the initial response to WHS incidents. Plans, conducts and reports on investigations of WHS incidents that have resulted in, or have the potential to result in, injury or damage.
